What’s new for 2020

Aside from the new venue, of course, there will be plenty of new exhibitors, new speakers, and new innovations to keep visitors busy. Plus, a new Chef Essentials feature area has been announced, dedicated to showcasing the tools, gadgets, utensils, cookware and small appliances etc that professional chefs can’t work without.

Capital Cooling, Harrison Ovens, Pro Foodservice Reps, Total QSR, CATRA, Norbake Services, Rimex Metal, PSI Technology and more, are all looking forward to making their show debut at ExCeL in June.

While returning exhibitors include Roller Grill, Lincat, Altro, Regale Microwaves, Viessmann Refrigeration Systems, Multivac UK, Shelfspan, Environmental Products and Services, Hallde, Aco Building Drainage, Clifton Food Range, Nelson Catering Equipment, CCE Group, and True Refrigeration, plus association supporters / partners ceda, FCSI, HCA and NACC.

Greener kitchens

Sustainability has always been a big focus for the show and will be for many years to come.

Many operators are already making big strides in reducing their business’ environmental impact – from cutting single-use packaging and disposables to sourcing alternative foods. Foodservice equipment manufacturers and suppliers – like Unox UK, Hupfer, Jestic Foodservice Equipment, Meiko UK, Gamble Foodservice Solutions, Synergy Grill, MKN, Quintex, Inox Fabrications, Filta, Aircover, Purified Air, Univent Systems, Profoodservice Reps, Grease Guardian and Datasym, who are all exhibiting this year – have solutions that help make their kitchens greener and more efficient too.

“One of the biggest opportunities for any commercial kitchen operator lies in kitchen efficiency. By that I mean energy efficiency, time efficiency and food efficiency too. If a caterer can reduce energy, cut the time it takes to prepare food and reduce food waste too, it will inevitably increase margins – and that’s where investment in innovative kitchen equipment can pay for itself,” explains Gary Nunn, MD of UNOX UK.

Examples of some of the latest energy-efficient/sustainable solutions being showcased at the show this June include:

— UNOX UK’s CLIMALUX™ which uses precise sensors to measure the humidity and ensure that cooking conditions match the chosen settings. This not only guarantees repeatable cooking processes, but up to 90% water and energy savings compared with traditional combination ovens.

— Meiko UK’s Green Solutions BioMaster, which takes all food waste including cooking oils and fats and even bones, creating a biomass product that is pumped to holding tanks for collection.

— Venix’s Squero combi ovens are packed with features and come loaded with 200 cooking programmes and 150 recipes, which can be accessed via the five-inch touchscreen and control dial (available exclusively through Jestic Foodservice Equipment).

— Klipspringer’s FOM330 Food Oil Monitor is an objective oil measurement system that helps achieves greater consistency of fried product, ensures compliance with food safety standards, and reduces the amount of waste/cooking oil used.

— Profoodservice Reps is showcasing Puracycle’s Remarkable Foodservice (food rotation) Labels, which are engineered to withstand hundreds of dishwashing cycles and can replace 500 single use alternatives.

Commercial Kitchen will also be working closely again with The Soil Association’s Green Kitchen Standard and The Sustainable Restaurant Association to create some exclusive Keynote content focusing on how kitchens of all types and sizes can become more time and resource efficient.
